Thou Shalt Not Suffer The Wycce Progress Update!
15 days ago – Tue, Aug 04, 2026 at 02:26:57 AM

Hey folks, we would like to share with you an updated timeline of where we are and and what we have left to complete to get us to the finish line (and more importantly, to you having books in your hands).

Hey folks! We'd like to share an updated timeline of where we are as of August 4th and what we have left to finish before we cross the finish line (and, more importantly, to you having the new campaign in your hands!).

Seven Investigations

We have finished two writing passes on Thou Shalt Not Suffer The Wycce. The first involved the entire team sketching out 'the bones' of each adventure and then Morgan going away to write it, while the second writing pass involved Tamsin putting in all the gamplay elements Morgan didn't think of or that occurred to the team after 'the bones' meeting.

Current Status. All seven mysteries are going into 'The Third Pass'. Tamsin and Morgan will be sitting down side by side and doing a cohesive edit from start to finish, including the section intended to orient GMs to the mystery, the investigation scenes, as well as the characters/creatures involved.

We will be honest, these adventures have taken the a HUGE chunk of work. We want to make sure that each investigation is interesting, solvable (from clues on the page, rather than asking the GM to wing it) and tie into the greater world of Painyme. Furthermore, each location has to fit onto a single page spread, so we're taking a lot of care deciding what makes it in.

The Newynog

The above name for Famine's land was developed as an analogue to Lethe's 'the plaguescape'. However, during development we felt it was causing more confusion than we liked, so now Famine's Realm has only one name. It's the OG name: The Fields of Atonement. That's right, everyone! A part of Thou Shalt Not Suffer The Wycce takes place in the foothills of Heall.

This 'twist' was always our intention, we're just not being coy about it anymore.

Current Status. This has exited first draft stage and is now on Tamsin's desk. It's smaller in scope than the Cocytus investigations - we expect it to clear second and 'The Third Draft' phases quite quickly.

Rest of Book

New Rules, Guild Roles and Abilities. In first draft stage with Tamsin, as much of the work required completed investigations. The playtesting for these will be wrapped into private sessions on weekends, so this section will snowball to completion quite quickly. Much of this requires straight edits for clarity rather than wholesale 'change of cloth'.

Adversaries. These are in second draft phase. The biggest factor here is, uh, well, we brainstormed too many creatures and we're now having to cut back due to physical book limitations. The good news is it provides us with plenty of Patreon creatures and extra content for future online releases. You will see all the content developed here in one form or another, but we're having to make some tough choices about what makes it into the book.

Introduction to Book. Penultimate task, present in draft form only.

Index. Ultimate task, not started.

Components

All components have been finalised, with the exception of a box for Famine's Candle. This needs one final adjustment to the measurements, but is basically done.

Timeline (TLDR)

So, what does this mean?

We've done an internal audit and laid out generous estimates for how long it will take to reach the finish line, and where we are aiming for is Q1 of 2026. We'd like to believe this is an outside estimate, but we really don't want to rush things and deliver something sub-par in terms of content.

May Progress Update
3 months ago – Fri, May 15, 2026 at 06:28:26 AM

Hello all! We have a couple things to share about Thou Shalt Not Suffer The Wycce progress.

Investigation Writing

First off, Tamsin is hot on Morgan's trail, working on second drafts: she has completed 4 investigations and is midway through the 5th. Meanwhile, Morgan has finished her work on the 7th, finale investigation. This means that all investigations are waiting for either second or third draft.

The third draft stage will be performed with Morgan and Tamsin working side-by-side, editing on the same computer to make sure the adventures have everything they need to be fun and engaging, with plenty of space for off-the-cuff NPC interactions.

Creatures

While Morgan waits for Tamsin, she's been hard at work on the creatures section. You can expect plenty of horrible new creatures, including:

  • Aesculapians - hog-sized serpents with venom they use to steal your senses
  • Aelfisc - inspired by hagfish. Morgan didn't need to work too hard to make these guys awful, they bore their way into bellies and eat creatures from the inside out
  • Ventriquen Laceworkers - if you hated our previous arachnids, you'll really hate these ones. One word: Tongues.
  • Opholiots - big cats, to act as counterpoint to the louder, bulkier bautenlobbe
  • "Cursed by" creatures. When the Traitor Gods hate an animal, they really hate an animal, and show it by bestowing curses that change their physical forms. We are developing a curse for each Traitor God - these can be applied to any creature from the Doomsong corebook, Lord Have Mercy Upon Us AND Thou Shalt Not Suffer The Wycce (as well as future books). We're very excited by the variation this will allow GMs!

All of this is subject to further development and there's much more in the works, but we've tried to share the ones we're most confident in including!

(If you'd like a sneak peek of how 'Cursed by X' creatures work, you can search Igni and Cildregast over on Patreon - they're free for all members and give a good idea of how Traitor God curses work)

Patreon Annual

The annual has been printed and shipped, along with a new print run of the Doomsong corebook. You can now add this to your pledges via Backerkit.

We couldn't get a discount code to work behind the scenes, so we've decided to pre-discount it for all Kickstarter backers!

New Coins

We didn't just design a new heretical crest for Famine's Doomcoin... we also asked the manufacturer to change the nicked and notched edge. If you end up with both, they'll look like they've been weathered differently!

Surprise! New Cardpacks

For some time now, we've been trying to find a manufacturer who could make foil cards AND a foil box. It finally happened, and we're pleased to announce that ordering a pack of GM Reference cards means you will receive shrinkwrapped foil cards, in a foil box, with a heretical wax seal for good measure. The cards have received very minor updates (adding an outline here or there for the foil side, updating the word 'inflammable' for a correct alternative -- curse you Latin root word!)

We are also on the cusp of finalising the candle and placing that order!

UK Games Expo

It is very nearly time for us to make our way to Birmingham and set up our stall of gothic delights. This year, we're in Hall 3, Stand 3A-159

And here's that again, but closer in:

We hope to see many of you there!

January Progress Update
7 months ago – Fri, Jan 30, 2026 at 06:01:37 AM

Hello all! We're off to a flying start in 2026 and we just wanted to update you on a few things.

Adventure Writing

First off, the brand new campaign book is slightly ahead of schedule. We have working outlines for all 7 conspiracies and Morgan has completed drafts for 4 of those 7 (we expected to be at 3 by the end of January). While she gets a wiggle on with Conspiracy #5, Tamsin and Chris will start combing through 1-4 to turn good into great, and then great into awesome!

We don't want to spoil too much in advance, but here are some of the mystery elements you can look forward to:

-A Cyteaen cardinal is claiming to be the true Ecclesiarch. The wyccefinders are the only ones qualified to decide whether there's any merit to the claim.
-A Templar has risen from the dead. This must be a miracle, considering how faithfully this organisation serve the Immortal and the Church.
-The entire population of a seaside village has vanished. All that remain are a sullen, strangely furry lot who don't seem to like strangers much...

Art

Now that we have all working outlines (including wycce villains, conspiracy locations, creature/threat vibes), we can start commissioning art in earnest! The artists we've been working with have received bundled art briefs. We should have even more inked art to show you relatively soon.

This represents the second wave of art briefs, out of at least three. We're not quite sure how much we'll need yet!

Wyccefinders' Guild

Chris and Tamsin have been planning out the Wyccefinders' Guild. So far we're keeping it very loose and will pare back to the best-for-game/story elements once all 7 conspiracies have been fully drafted. However, you can probably look forward to seeing these concepts:

-Quid Pro Quo (the wyccefinders can turn into power-hungry NPC murderers, but there will be consequences unless a Quid Pro Quo is agreed)

-A treasure trove of a Guild basement, in which all manner of items can be found. However, the wyccefinders are a disorganised lot and it may take time/luck to locate anything specific...

-The previous (now, sadly, dead) Wyccefinder General's notes and research. It seems he was researching a strange candle sent anonymously to the guild...

-Houndmaster Guild Role
-Financier Guild Role
-Confessor Guild Role

Doomsong Patreon Annual

No rest for the wicked. We spent quite a bit of our Christmas "break" collecting together all the Patreon posts we made in 2025, and reformatting them for PDF/physical release.

It's a hefty little mag, coming in at around 80 pages - and that's after we took out some of the content that didn't feel quite up to scratch.

If you can't quite bring yourself to dive into Patreon (which is fair, it's a whole 'nother platform), keep your eyes peeled for this softcover in our shop and at our stall during conventions!

We'll have more details about the Patreon Annual soon, but they'll probably be posted to Patreon or the newletter!

That's all for now!

January Shipping is Underway!
8 months ago – Mon, Jan 05, 2026 at 08:10:11 AM

Great news, O Wonderful Doomsingers - it's a new year! And with the re-setting of the calendars, we brings news of parcels in the post.

The first wave of pledges (Doomsong and Lord Have Mercy Upon Us content) have been packaged and will be collected very soon! If you opted for two-wave shipping and you've paid the shipping fee, the following information is for you:

  • If you are NOT in the EU or US, your parcels should be arriving in about a week.
  • If you ARE in the EU or US, your parcels are being shipped to fulfilment hubs and will be sent out soon after arrival at those waystations.

You should have received first wave PDFs via DriveThru RPG back in December. However, if you have any questions or something doesn't seem quite right, please reach out to us here or at [email protected]!

Thou Shalt Not Suffer The Wycce is currently on schedule. We'll keep you updated with our progress!

In the meantime, if you need even more game content to keep you going, check out our Patreon! We create two posts every month, one free and one paid. Last month, the free post was Jollie Mab, a seasonal trickster. The paid post was a statblock to help GMs run human mobs more smoothly!

That's all for now. Thanks for your time and support, and have an excellent start to the year!
